Further to my post about my affect on the Planet, I happened upon a fellow called Jon Gabriel.
Now before I go any further, let me share that yes I am have tried many, many diets in my life time and the only success I could boast would have been the time with Weight Watchers… but costs and a move interstate put that to rest amidst the stress of moving etc. So yes, I am overweight and yes, I have tried many diets and in fact would consider myself skeptical of anything that promotes weight loss - even the tv reality show - the one I won’t mention but you know what I mean.
Anyway, I probably would have also shied away from Jon Gabriel’s book - The Gabriel Method. But there have been some very subtle shifts in my life this year - from coming to that understanding about how I am influencing the planet to my beginning an amazing journey of learning about the mind through the course I am undertaking. So, had it not been for my new appreciation of these things , I would have dismissed the Gabriel method as another bogus online sales ploy. But I went to the site after seeing an ad showing Jon at well over 180kg and now healthy and very fit. Yeah I thought, what crap is this! So when I started reading the site my interest was piqued and as I said, my recent life education had allowed me to appreciate more of what Jon writes.
So, I ordered the book (with money back guarantee) and have started reading. I must admit that I am enjoying the book and Jon’s thoughts about our bodies and weight loss. I have been skeptical and have done some research to see if some of what he says is true about the more technical aspects of out bodies and I must admit that all it has done is get me thinking more and more about listening to my own body. Included with the book is a relaxing CD of meditation with Jon guiding you with some positive cognitive mediation. The basic premise is that your body won’t loose weight and can’t loose weight as it is turned on the FAT machine. In other words, you need to allow your body to recognise that it overweight and is not in a position to need to keep the fat.
So, for the past week, I have been reading the book, and listening to the CD on my iPod each night as I lay in bed with the lights off. This week has been quite an eye-opener as not only the book educates you about some of the information about your body, the CD helps program your brain to think differently. I noticed a change the first day - I thought about what I was going to eat and felt more relaxed with my body. Each day has been different, and whether it has been the CD or the book, I WANT to eat differently, I WANT to have vitality from eating and sunlight - in fact I FEEL better and believe that the subtle shift in my thinking is allowing me to eat differently and my body to process differently.
Anyway, this is the start - I’ll post some more about this journey. If it doesn’t work I’ll get my money back. but I feel it is a step for the better. I am not advocating this program for everyone and by no means am I recommending it - yet - but I would advocate for many of the changes that Jon writes about in our diets. I don’t know how many people are reading this blog, but I’ll keep posting irregular info about this shift to align my body with the planet!
