Great Article about The Dining Room

    NiallJune 11, 2008

The local paper, The Leader ran an article about The Dining Room, where I volunteer and am doing my placement for my course. It is an interview with David Knoop, the social worker who handles The Dining Room. Have a read - I would love to hear your comments.

    Decisive Victory!

    Niall

I am not a huge follower of Rugby but I do keep an eye on the State of Origin matches between NSW and QLD - and must congratulate the QLD team for stomping on NSW 30 nil! The last game should be quite good - one all so far out of a possible three games.

    Just what the middle-east needed…

    Niall

… and many of the right-wing USAmerican “Christians” - George Bush telling the Israeli’s that they are a “chosen people” who can count on USAmerican support against enemies like Hamas and Iran.

Speaking of the “promise of God” for a “homeland for the chosen people” in Israel, Bush told the Israeli parliament after a visit to the Roman-era Jewish fortress at Masada: “Masada shall never fall again, and America will always stand with you.”

And this was while he is trying to set up talks with Palenstine and Israel. But it get’s worse…

Bush described the “bonds of the Book” — faith in the Bible shared by Christians like himself and Jews — as bolstering an “unbreakable” alliance between Israel and the United States.

    Oh great…..

So, early Christians did meet in a Church Building!?

    Niall

I was reading my RSS reader this morning over a coffee and almost spilt my coffee over myself and my laptop when I read one of the headlines streaming from the ABC. The headline was “World’s first church unearthed in Jordan” - so, there I was thinking they had unearthed a mass grave of early Christians, slaughtered by the Empire of the time.

But no. The article goes on to say that archaeologists have unearthed a shelter, or place where early Christians hid. (more…)
