• At The Trouble with Paris Book Launch

    June 15, 2008

Well, today (you may recall I posted about the upcoming event here) was the book launch for Mark Sayers‘ book, “The Trouble with Paris” at the place that Red East meets, and I was lucky enough to go along with Darren C after dropping his daughter and my son at their classmates birthday party at Hungry Jacks (Burger King for you Yanks!). We arrived in Box Hill about an hour early and went for a walk to a cafe in the Box Hill arcade - man that place has changed. Sorry there are no pics of the event - I didn’t have my camera with me, so I will see if there are any published on Mark’s blog later!

Anyway, we went back to the East Red office up some stairs into a really cool space that Red East meets in. There were some folk there I had seen before at similar events so it was good to make some new friends and acquaintances. I was also pleasantly surprised to bump into an old mate from my sojourn at Oxley College as well as some folk I had met at a recent job interview.

But, the day was about the book launch and Mark looked calm and collective as he greeted everyone. Later, after we had some coffee, and settled, Dr Wynand de Kock from Tabor College gave a small talk introducing Mark’s book, with some great comments and analogies from other great thinkers and authors who echoed Mark’s sentiments in the book. Next up, Mark spoke, was very humble and contrite as he thanked his family and friends. He gave a quick summary of two ideas that gave birth to the book and DVD concept - both of which are obvious as the germ for the books concepts!

Overall the afternoon was wonderful, very relaxed and informal, much like Mark. he even commented that he could of sent out press releases to all the colleges and book stores and journalists but that he wanted to spend this moment surrounded by his friends and family of supporters.

God Bless you Mark! I pray that God continues to guide your thoughts and writing and that the Trouble concept, book and DVD will saturate the thinking of the Church in Australia and the world for being what it is - the reality of following Jesus!

Keep checking back as I will write a review once I am finished it!
