From The Streets - Everything is Borrowed.
“I came into the World with nothing, and leave with nothing but love. Everything else is borrowed.”
I love the lyrics and the images. While not quite the situation of a family we are helping with at the moment - it does remind me of many of the stories I am hearing and yes, it brings tears to my eyes.

While there have been some fantastic bits of news about the Federal Government changing Mandatory Detention brought in by the Howard Gov’t, the opposition (gee - the old Howard gov’t) wants to block it. Please add your name to the petition urging them and the governemt to take this through to the end and end mandatory detention for immigration and assylum seekers.
This video is awesome and helps make the message clear.

This was sent to me by a good friend and Godly man who has been serving in Africa for past few years, and is from folk’s within Zimbabwe who sent this out as a plea for the Church around the World to pray for the people of Zimbabwe and to be a catalyst for action!
Warning! Some of the pictures in this article are very graphic in nature with images of the result of violence. If you are easily offended or are looking at this with kids, I would suggest waiting till you are ready.
It is such a tragedy and the victims are completely at the mercy of ruthless thugs with a green light to do just as they please. The proposed run-off election is going to be more than unfair – it is a human rights travesty.
The photographs below show the charred remains of farm workers homes on Muniya Farm. (more…)

The film, “Victims of Fashion” is about local sweatshops and the effects they have on the workers in the USAmerica economy, exposing audiences that sweatshop use is not only a problem in developing countries, but within USAmerican borders as well.

I wrote the following one evening recently but have been unsure whether to publish it… tell me what you think.
In the course of my studies I have been researching homelessness and poverty in Australia, and in particular, Melbourne, and recently I had the great pleasure to go meet a lovely woman who works for the Salvation Army at a Crisis center here in Melbourne. After a tour of the fantastic facilities and meeting the others staff, we sat for a coffee and chat. A great hour and I was extremely thankful for the chat.
But, it further fueled my righteous anger to understand that local churches weren’t offering to help this crisis centre - something that we have found at The Dining Room (TDR). However, before I rant, I must say that there are some churches and schools in the area who are helping TDR, but let me emphasize - some out of many. We have some churches in the local area that are perched on acres of land, some with schools on the property and some without, and some with empty buildings and some that have a handful of people meeting in them.

… and many of the right-wing USAmerican “Christians” - George Bush telling the Israeli’s that they are a “chosen people” who can count on USAmerican support against enemies like Hamas and Iran.
Speaking of the “promise of God” for a “homeland for the chosen people” in Israel, Bush told the Israeli parliament after a visit to the Roman-era Jewish fortress at Masada: “Masada shall never fall again, and America will always stand with you.”
And this was while he is trying to set up talks with Palenstine and Israel. But it get’s worse…
Bush described the “bonds of the Book” — faith in the Bible shared by Christians like himself and Jews — as bolstering an “unbreakable” alliance between Israel and the United States.
Oh great…..

I just signed a pledge tonight, joining others that I would not watch the Opening Ceremony (or for that matter, any of the events) of the 2008 Bejing Olympic.
The purpose of Not Watching Campaign is not about the Olympics or the people of China.
This campaign is to protest against the human rights violations in Tibet by the Communist Government of China and their continuing economic support for the Janjaweed militias in Darfur and the military junta in Burma.
We want to get the attention of the Communist Government of China and let them know that they cannot turn their backs on the human rights responsibilities a civilized nation should have and still enjoy the financial benefits of the civilized world.
We are NOT watching the Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony
on which China is spending millions of dollars to showcase the world
an event the sponsors and advertisers paid billions of dollars for advertising space!
The Opening Ceremony is one of the largest television events in the World and advertisers around the globe pay huge fees to have their ads screened on networks that have also paid huge fees to screen the games. So, by switching off, if they can get thousands, hundreds of thousands of people to not watch - it sends a clear message, hurting the advertisers, networks and sponsors that we’re not happy they have partnered with the Chinese Communist Government.
Go here to sign up, or go here to see the list of signatories so far, why not add your own to this pledge?
